Pregnancy Israel style!

So, I guess it's a bit late to start blogging about being pregnant considering I have only two months to go, but there's something about the traveling that makes me want to record my life and musings.

I have been nervous about this trip for months. Essentially, ever since I found out I was pregnant in January, I thought about this trip to Israel. I knew the Pardes program was one I couldn't turn down considering how much one on one help I would receive, but would traveling at this stage of pregnancy be wise? As Dr Tsui repeated to Aaron and me, the professional opinion is not to travel internationally after 32 weeks. For me, I am going to shoot right past that deadline. As I worried, I consulted doctors who practice in my medical group as well as friends who are doctors and know a heck of a lot about pregnancy. They all reassured me that it would be fine, but still...I do not want to look back on this aspect of the pregnancy with regret. I already have enough of them( I love carbs!!) Yet one major regret is that Aaron is not here and will miss out on 3 weeks of Love Bug growth and the opportunity to talk and sing to my belly. Still, he has been such a reassuring and encouraging voice that even though we hate being apart, he knows I should be here and that it's not going to be a huge mistake.

I prepared for the flight as best I could: compression socks, lumbar back pillow, awesome neck pillow, blow up foot rest...since I couldn't buy a ton of water in the airport since the flight to Israel requires another security check, I just had the flight attendants constantly refill an empty water bottle I brought. I was up drinking, peeing and stretching for probably 8 of the 11 hours. Watched Avatar and It's Complicated and enjoyed them both for different reasons. Finally arrived in Israel and took the train to Haifa where Efrat and Nitsan picked me up. I felt pretty accomplished!

By the time we ate and caught up a bit, I was ready to shower and sleep. Unfortunately I was up at 4 but what's cool about being in Givat Elah is that you get to hear the meuzzin calls from multiple mosques. Pretty neat!

Today, I just ate, read, played on the internet and slept. I am a bit off schedule due to an ill-timed nap, but it was sweet hanging out here and chatting with Ido. For lunch, he ordered us a vegetarian feast from a local Bedouin restaurant. Amazing! With Efrat later that evening, we got to meet his new girlfriend. So sweet!

Anyway, tomorrow will include prenatal yoga and hopefully a pre Shabbat swim in the pool. Who knows what else I will do? Relaxing is so awesome!

Love Bug continues to grow and it's cool when it moves/jerks around. Lately, we can feel actual body parts though we cannot identify what they are. Being pregnant is so amazing despite the worries and I can't wait to meet this baby!!
