For dinner on our last night in Seattle, we decided to find a restaurant that offers a vegetarian burger that was featured among Seattle's top ten burgers. Aaron suggested we take a cab (ATP - surprised?!) but I insisted me walk to get to know the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. It started off well; we had directions from Google maps and the weather was sunny and brisk, perfect for an evening walk. Yet after a while, we wondering if we were on the right track. Using my phone, I plugged in our current location into Google maps and found the directions to the restaurant. On and on we walked. Capitol Hill looks cool with bars, boutiques and restaurants. But the directions had us walking up a pretty steep hill. So, I recalibrated with my phone and we kept going.
We kept walking for a while, past hospitals and clinics, empty lots and shady looking characters. And then it became clear that we would not find the restaurant. We turned onto the street where it was supposed to be and all we saw were houses on a residential street. Dang! We had left Capitol Hill behind and we had no way of figuring out where to go. The gas station lady couldn't help and Seattle's Green Cab wouldn't pick us up in the City of Seattle. How weird and annoying!
We gave up trying to find the best veggie burger in the city and made our way back to Capitol Hill, hungry and tired from walking for over an hour. In the end, we ate at a fun Asian-fusion place called Boom Noodles with awesome veggie options, edamame puree and tofu.
The next day, after golf and working out, we set out by car to the restaurant to finally have the infamous veggie burger. Of course, when we arrived, we found out they didn't open until 4 pm on weekdays. Denied! Again!
All was not lost, however. Walking around the area, we found an incredible resale shop full of great possibilities and good quality as well. In fact, I found there a J Crew dress I own, in the same color and size as mine. (Maybe there is something I should know...)Anyway, as I tried things on, Aaron brought me more and more things to try. I ended up with a suit, a dress and some summery pants. Awesome! (ATP - I should be a personal shopper.) We also ended up eating lunch at a vegan Asian place nearby where the Mandarian tofu Aaron ordered was the best fried tofu we have tasted. Yay! (ATP says: Better than Vegan Glory but not as good as Bulan Thai)
From there, we intended to head to Canada but ended up stopping and driving around University of Washington and checking out their cool brick buildings and quads with fountains. So much beauty everywhere! (ATP addition: Nice campus.. no UF though!)
