Wow, what a year!

It was a bit mind boggling to realize that I haven't posted anything in just over a year. Wow! I suppose it's not too terribly surprising when you consider all that's happened: end of pregnancy, birth of Ariel Tzvi, maternity leave, returning to work and then finally, summer again. How does one sum up a year like that?! Life changing doesn't really begin to cover it.

Parenting is one challenging job and really tests your relationship with your partner. One of you almost always thinks the other one is crazy in how they think. Despite this, I have been so amazed at how our child is developing. I really have learned how to be a mother from just watching and responding to him. The year milestone is in sight (see the cute ticker below), and I am proud of us for keeping him alive so well so far.

Even more, I am so proud of little Arieli. He's so amazing! He has a captivating personality and engages everyone; he enjoys interacting and talking up a storm with people of all ages. He crawls around very fast on his hands and feet and is starting to experiment with standing unaided. He eats like a champ, shoveling food into his mouth using a two-handed technique he has developed and inevitably gets whatever it is in his hair, nose and eyebrows. Fortunately, he has been a pretty good eater since we started putting finger foods into his little hands at around 6 months. He has had three swim lessons so far and is getting more and more used to putting his ears and his whole face in the water. He puts himself to sleep pretty well, but still wakes up every 4 hours during the night. I really hope that changes soon.

Summer is so great because we get to spend so much more time together. What a treat! Yes, there are plenty of things on the list that need to get done, but we'll get there eventually. I do regret not having documented the development somewhere, but it does make me feel better knowing that one could follow his progress on facebook, where he is a celebrity of sorts.

That's all for now. Hopefully my next post will be before next year!
